ASDEF aims to initiate an Integrated Emergency Response to communities affected by Drought in the region with the main objective of responding to the immediate needs of the drought affected people in the targeted areas and improving their resilience to cope with future humanitarian needs.
ASDEF strives to Support the community initiatives that address and respond to vulnerabilities related to climate change, and enhance the voices of communities in the climate change discourse at the county level.
Establish resource centers to increase awareness for critical information such as seasonal forecasts and early warnings. It also Scale up advocacy for community-based climate change adaptation mechanisms. These include engaging in local tree planting initiatives and lobbying for local policy development on the environment and natural resources.
Under this thematic area, ASDEF also Provide local communities with alternative farming practices such as irrigation farming, livestock farming with better breeds of livestock, and sourcing for the market for the farm produce.
